UK Travel Advice by Country (Live FCDO Updates)
Before you travel, it’s worth doing one quick check: what the UK Foreign Office (FCDO) is currently advising for your destination.
We’ve built a simple travel advice checker that pulls the latest warning level live from GOV.UK, so you can see at a glance whether the FCDO is advising against travel, and then click through to the official page for full details.
What do the results mean?
We summarise the current FCDO position into three plain-English labels:
- OK: No UK warning against travel. You should still read the official advice for local risks (crime hotspots, protests, weather events, etc.).
- CAUTION: The FCDO advises against non-essential travel (either to the whole country or certain areas). If you’re travelling anyway, read the official warning carefully.
- PARTIAL WARNING: The FCDO advises against travel to certain parts of the country. Read the official advice carefully to see which areas are affected.
- NO-GO: The FCDO advises against all travel. That’s a serious warning. Use the GOV.UK link to understand the details.
How does travel advice affect travel insurance?
Travel advice matters because it can affect what cover applies, especially if you travel to a destination (or region) where the FCDO is advising against travel.
We recommend checking the latest advice before booking and again close to departure. If you’re unsure how a warning affects your trip, speak to us before you travel.

Travel Advice FAQs
Is this travel advice official?
Yes, we display a live summary pulled from GOV.UK’s FCDO travel advice, and we always include a link to the official page so you can read the full guidance.
How often does the advice update?
Whenever the FCDO updates the destination page, the widget will reflect those updates (you’ll also see the “last updated” date).
What if the advice says “avoid non-essential travel to parts”?
That usually means certain regions have specific risks. Click “Read full travel advice” to see which areas are affected and what the FCDO recommends.
Does a travel warning mean I can’t travel?
Not necessarily, but warnings like “avoid non-essential travel” or “do not travel” are serious. We recommend following the official guidance and checking how it affects your plans.
Can I still buy travel insurance if there’s a warning?
Sometimes, it depends on the destination, the warning level, and your trip details. The safest approach is: check the official advice first, then get a quote (or contact us if you’re unsure).
Get Covered for Your Trip
Once you’ve checked the latest travel advice, the next step is making sure you’re properly covered for the trip you’re actually taking, activities, medical needs, and the realities of travelling in the real world.
